The primary mission of the LPFPD4 is fire suppression and medical response, however, a strong fire prevention program helps mitigate fire dangers in our community. Our fire prevention program includes the use of established engineering practices and public education programs to reduce the loss of life and property from a catastrophic fire.
There are a number of measures in place to protect lives and property from fire risk, which include the regulation and enforcement of the latest fire and building codes, developing pre-plans for commercial buildings, continuous training for fire department personnel, employing up-to-date fire protection apparatus and equipment, and public education programs.
The LPFPD4 fire prevention program has been developed with the help of professional and volunteer firefighters, insurance industry professionals, building officials, and elected representatives. Our program relies upon:
- Continuous education and training for department personnel.
- Equipping our personnel with technologically advanced firefighting apparatus and equipment.
- Development of commercial pre-plans.
- Community education and outreach.
LPFPD4 is a community endeavor. It’s “our family protecting your family” 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days per year.
If you or your church, business, school or civic group would like more information on our fire protection programs, please call (225) 664-1702.
The LPFPD4 encourages you to be prepared in the event of a fire.
Unfortunately, fires do still occur and when that happens, our firefighters stand ready to respond at a moment’s notice 24 hours a day.
