Joe Blanchard
Commissioner
Mr. Joe Blanchard is a 30-year resident of Livingston Parish. He served as a Livingston Parish Fire Protection District 4 firefighter for 13 years and has been a member of the Board of Directors for the last four years.
In his role as commissioner, Mr. Blanchard ensures the safety and protection of Livingston Parish residents and the firefighters of District 4, as well as lends his expertise to the Chief to help make good financial decisions and to help drive continued growth for District 4.
“As a Board member, it is my responsibility to help keep the residents of our district safe, as well as assure that LPFPD4 firefighters have the proper tools and equipment needed to keep them safe.”
When asked what his most memorable moment serving the district was, Blanchard recalled a particular call that occurred over 20 years ago. “A man in our neighborhood had a heart attached. In the ambulance, he coded three times before we were able to resusitate. Two months later, Blanchard saw the man in a restaurant but decided not to approach him. Eight years later, he was on a medical call for a woman and this man was at her house. “He asked me if I remembered him. He then hugged me and thanked me for saving his life. This was the moment that I knew I was a part of something bigger than myself. ”
Blanchard added, “There are so many caring people working behind the scenes to help keep the department running. I am very proud to be a part of the LPFPD4 family.”
In his free time, Mr. Blanchard enjoys working in his shop on his old truck and spending time with his wife, son, and dog, T-Roy. Joe works as a Technical Service Representative and Rain For Rent, a leading provider of temporary liquid handling solutions including pumps, tanks, filtration and spill containment.
